Moving westward, we find that the emirates don’t follow a single pattern. Some threads emerge to connect these stories, such as continued focus on warfare along the frontier and the patronage of scholars like Farabi and Mutanabbi. However, Egypt and Arabia will reveal the long-lasting significance of ‘Abbasid military and political upheaval.
